I remember how it felt when my wife and I bought our first home. It was exhilarating and empowering. It was also an incredible learning experience. From that moment on I developed an interest and passion for real estate.

I graduated from California State University at Fullerton, with a Bachelors of Degree in Human Services. I also attended Claremont Graduate University as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar. After college, I worked in human services and helped underserved communities access critical resources in Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley.

In 2006 I decided to pursue a career in real estate. So I left my career in human services to work full-time in residential appraisal. The following year I obtained a brokers license. In 2009, my appraisal experience helped me secure a contract with US Bank to sell foreclosed properties.

As odd as it may sound, one of my first jobs as a young adult was writing obituaries for a newspaper. I was moved by the stories that came across my desk. I wanted to help. So as a simple heartfelt gesture, I would offer my fresh, homemade cookies and cupcakes to the family members bringing in the biographies of their deceased loved ones.

Eventually, people stopped buying newspapers and I was out of a job. I started selling cupcakes in the downtown Pomona Art’s District. My business thrived. This and other events led me to being able to buy my first home at 30 years old.

The process was daunting. I was young and unaware about the in’s and out’s of real estate. However, I was lucky enough to have a patient, reliable agent who made the entire purchase seamless.
